‘Move It’ is a Bongil Bongil Youth Collective project, born out of consultation and co-design with young people and the Toormina community. Facilitated by Community Engagement Officer Heather Duncan, in collaboration with local organisations, services, businesses, and community members, ‘Move It’ gets young people moving, engaging socially, and achieving personal and collective goals.

Our mission is to foster a community where youth can explore their physical capabilities, develop mental resilience, and build lasting connections with local mentors and peers through a variety of exciting movement programs. Move It focuses on what your body can do through activities designed to strengthen both body, mind and social connection. The project takes a holistic approach to well-being and self-care, enhancing physical fitness while also fostering social and mental growth, building confidence, and achieving targeted goals along the way.

Empowerment through Physical Activity: Our programs focus on enhancing both physical and mental well-being. By participating in activities like morning fitness, CrossFit, and dance, young people can develop strength, resilience, and confidence. We emphasize what the body can do, promoting a positive body image and a healthier lifestyle.

Supportive Culture: We are dedicated to creating safe, welcoming environments where every young person feels accepted and valued. Utilizing local mentors and community resources, we provide the support needed for youth to thrive. This nurturing atmosphere helps build long-term engagement in physical activities and sports, fostering a sense of belonging and community.

Diverse Activities: MOVE-IT offers a wide range of programs to cater to different interests and fitness levels. From structured activities like three-on-three basketball and targeted conditioning programs to casual drop-in events and creative dance sessions, there’s something for everyone. Special events like NAIDOC touch football and fishing days ensure there’s always something new and exciting to participate in.
