Like all collective impact initiatives, Becoming U is grounded by strong, trusted relationships within the community.
The project began in Nambucca Heads, where early partnerships with local schools laid the groundwork for collaboration. Over time, these connections have grown beyond the education and service systems, embedding Becoming U more deeply within the wider community and within the Nambucca Valley Council.
What We do:
Becoming U is now evolving its focus. The project is shifting towards supporting young people as drivers of a community‑led movement one that is shaped by young people’s voices, guided by lived experience, and strengthened by the shared commitment of community members. Together through these partnerships Becoming U has supported the establishment of The Nambucca Valley Youth Council as an official advisory body, giving young people of the valley a direct voice in local decision-making. The five youth‑led working groups: Youth Advocacy; Arts & Events; Sports & Recreation; Business & Services; and Education & Employment will be the catalyst for interconnected youth‑led projects.
