Three Canoes is a First Nations youth-led project bringing young people from across the Nambucca Valley together, through On-Country learning, storytelling, bush craft, and cultural & arts activities to bring about connection, confidence and cohesion.

This project will finish with a youth-led showcase and celebration sharing stories and cultural pride with the whole community.

Our first on-country excursion took place at Valla Beach and included Didge in a Day and Sista Business.

During Didge in a Day, each of the boys individually crafted a didgeridoo, beginning with a termite-hollowed blank. This marks the first of many future excursions, where we hope the boys will develop their playing skills and eventually showcase their instruments.

Sista Business provided a culturally safe space for the girls to connect, share, be supported, and be nurtured within nature.

We look forward to many more days, strengthening pride, identity, and empowerment celebrating our young people and their First Nations culture.
