A few weeks ago, our community came together for something really special—the Place of Plenty Showcase. And despite the heat (and wow, it was hot in that hall!), the turnout was incredible.

What unfolded was everything we hoped for and more.

The space was packed with families, friends, school communities, partners and supporters, all showing up for one reason: to celebrate our young people.

The evening was filled with music, performance, storytelling, visual art and creativity, all led by some of the most talented young people in our 2452 community. Their confidence, skill and imagination lit up the room and reminded us just how much potential lives right here in our postcode.

The Showcase was more than an event—it was the result of a long-term, place-based initiative driven by collaboration, youth voice and genuine community partnership. Through the Bongil Bongil Youth Collective, the Bongil Bongil Community of schools, community organisations, artists and mentors have been working side-by-side with young people to explore identity, culture, “place” and what belonging really looks like in Toormina.

The event was the culmination of months of workshops, creative sessions, planning, dreaming and co-design. It was youth-led and place-based, and that’s exactly what made it so powerful. Seeing young people take the stage—owning their stories, expressing themselves, and cheering each other on—was a reminder of why this work matters.

  • Every young person who shared their voice, art or performance

  • The Bongil Bongil schools for their ongoing support

  • Our community partners, artists and mentors who walked alongside these young people

  • And of course, the community who showed up in the heat, stayed, clapped, created and celebrated together

We are so proud to be part of this vibrant and creative 2452 community. Nights like this show exactly what happens when young people are given space, support and the chance to lead.

👉 We’ll be sharing highlights on our socials—there were so many unforgettable moments so keep an eye out!

Here’s to more youth-led, place-based projects, more shared creativity, and more reasons to celebrate the incredible young people of Toormina and 2452.
