We started without a ready-made project then took time to listen, foster trusted and strong relationships, and joined forces with our local people using their resources to build something incredible together that really works for our young people.

This page shows some of our journey and why co-designing local projects is so important.

Becoming U is one of 9 Uniting NSW.ACT Future Horizons initiatives. Future Horizons is a Uniting strategy to articulate our 10-year vision for a more inclusive, connected and just world. It focuses on the locations and communities with the greatest need and highest potential to reverse entrenched cycles of disadvantage.

Uniting’s investment in the 9 social innovation initiatives involves co-designing, co-funding, trialling, and scaling new programs to meet complex and unsolved social needs. We’ve invested funds to build these Future Horizons programs and break new ground in addressing the challenges faced by our most marginalised individuals and communities. We are inviting other investors and collaborators to join us.
