Watch Aydan’s Story: Wear It Purple Day and Support of LGBTI+ Youth
For Wear It Purple Day 2022, we’re bringing you the story of Aydan (he/him), an inspiring young person whose journey led him to help other LGBTI+ young people at Nambucca Heads High and the local community.🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍
Aydan is also part of the school’s inaugural Youth Advisory Council, driving change and amplifying youth voices.
In the video, Aydan shares his story of coming out as demisexual at a young age, how grateful he is for the support from friends and allies, and co-founding an LGBTI+ group at school. He also tells why Wear It Purple Day is so important, especially for young people in rural areas, and offers advice for other LGBTI+ young people.
Wear It Purple is a student-run, not-for-profit organisation that supports young people who identify as sexuality and/or gender diverse (i.e. rainbow).
Becoming U is proudly supported by Uniting NSW.ACT. If you are a member of an LGBTI+ community, you’ll be welcome at Becoming U and Uniting – a place where everyone feels safe and confident to be themselves, where diversity is valued to co-create a better world.
We are committed to respecting children and take action to keep them safe. We take the well-being and safety of children very seriously. Protecting children is at the heart of everything we do – at work, at home and in the community. We don’t tolerate disrespect towards children and act immediately to prevent abuse.
